4WD Driver Leads Police On Wild Chase In KL, Tries To Escape On Foot Before Getting Caught | WeirdKaya

By Jin Wen Chan · 11 Oct, 15:37 MYT

What looked like a scene straight out of Grand Theft Auto (GTA) unfolded in Kuala Lumpur today (Oct 11), after a four-wheel-drive (4WD) driver allegedly tried to escape police, sparking a dramatic chase that caught Malaysians’ attention online.

Several videos of the incident have since circulated on social media, showing the suspect allegedly crashing into vehicles, abandoning his 4WD and attempting to flee on foot before being apprehended with the help of members of the public.

Drove onto road divider before fleeing on foot

The incident reportedly took place around noon at an intersection beneath a flyover along the Setiawangsa-Wangsa Maju route in Kuala Lumpur.

According to reports circulating online , the driver was believed to be attempting to evade police arrest when he forced his way through traffic and drove onto a road divider.

He then allegedly abandoned his vehicle and attempted to make a run for it.

Videos shared on social media showed several police officers chasing the suspect, while nearby motorcyclists and members of the public also stepped in to help stop him.

Despite initially managing to evade those pursuing him, the suspect was eventually restrained and arrested following a brief struggle.

Allegedly tried to seize several motorcycles

A Threads user claimed that the chase took place near the Dato’ Tun Hussein Onn intersection heading towards Jelatek.

He also alleged that the suspect attempted to seize three to four motorcycles in a desperate bid to escape, but failed.

Meanwhile, separate footage shared by other social media users appeared to show the suspect’s vehicle colliding with several other vehicles during the chase.

‘GTA 6 released already?’

The dramatic scenes quickly sparked reactions among Malaysians, with some comparing the incident to a real-life version of the popular video game Grand Theft Auto.

A Threads user , who appears to be a witness, jokingly asked: “Has GTA 6 been released already?” in his post.

Police have yet to release an official statement on the incident, while the reason behind the suspect’s alleged attempt to flee remains unconfirmed.

Further details are expected to emerge once authorities provide an official update.

The incident has also sparked discussion online, with Malaysians reacting to the unusual chase and the involvement of members of the public in helping police catch the suspect.
