KUCHING: Dalat hopes to tap Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan’s experience to further advance the constituency’s development through its ‘Leaders with the People’ programme on Nov 1.
Minister for Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development, Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah said Awang Tengah had been invited to attend the programme at the Dalat Welfare Complex.
“We hope to seek his advice on Dalat’s progress, how he views the area then and now, and how we can further develop the Dalat constituency,” she said when speaking to reporters after a photography session with community leaders, village chiefs and PBB members from Dalat at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) building here on Tuesday (Oct 20).
Fatimah, who is also Dalat assemblywoman, said the programme would allow leaders and residents to exchange views while strengthening ties with the community.
She added that Awang Tengah shared a personal connection with Dalat, having served there during the early years of his career.
According to a report, Fatimah previously announced that a RM30.8-million boutique hotel and a RM15.5-million Kaul site development had been approved for Dalat under the state’s ‘Projek Rakyat’ initiative.
The hotel would be privately operated upon completion, while the Kaul site was also intended to serve as a waterfront hub for residents and visitors throughout the year.
