THE fifth day of the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Sitting drew to a close amid pleasantly cool weather today, after rain swept through the complex earlier in the afternoon.
Rain began falling at around 1:30 pm before easing about an hour later, bringing a welcome respite from the heat that lingered throughout the afternoon.
Inside the chamber, the day’s proceedings began with a question-and-answer session in the morning, during which eight ministers responded to questions raised by assemblymen.
The afternoon session saw 13 assemblymen taking turns to debate the Supply (2027) Bill, 2026, with all expressing their support for the Bill.
The debate began with Lingga assemblywoman, Dayang Noorazah Awang Sohor, followed by Billy Sujang (Opar), Datuk Rolland Duat Jubin (Meluan) and Azizul Annuar Adenan (Tanjong Datu).
Also taking the floor were Christopher Gira Sambang (Tamin), Datuk Friday Belik (Krian), Wilson Nyabong Ijang (Pelagus) and Dr Johnichal Rayong Ngipa (Engkilili).
The debate continued with Datuk Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman (Tupong), Datuk Mong Dagang (Bukit Begunan), Datuk Paulus Palu Gumbang (Batu Danau), Datuk Mohd Chee Kadir (Kabong) and Datuk Razaili Gapor (Beting Maro).
The assemblymen raised various matters concerning development, infrastructure, public amenities and the needs of communities across Sarawak.
Proceedings were adjourned at 5:57 pm, with the sitting scheduled to resume next Monday (Oct. 19) at 9:00 am.
