SBF donates RM20,000 to three charities, establishes academy

KUCHING : The Sarawak Business Federation (SBF) has given a total contribution of RM20,000 to three organisations in conjunction with its 10th anniversary celebration.

With the theme ‘A Decade of Unity, A Future of Shared Prosperity’ , the celebration marked a significant milestone for SBF, which was established to unite business associations under one umbrella and provide a collective voice for Sarawak’s private sector.

The anniversary also reaffirmed SBF’s commitment to shared prosperity, extending beyond business to supporting the wider community.

In conjunction with its 10th anniversary celebration, SBF extended a total charitable contribution of RM20,000 to three Kuching-based organisations: RM10,000 to Kuching Life Care Society, RM5,000 to Hope Place Kuching, and RM5,000 to Save Our Strays Kuching.

The handover of the contribution took place during its 10th Anniversary Gala Dinner at Amity Hall, UNIFOR Complex, on Saturday night (Oct. 17).

The contribution reflected SBF’s recognition that a strong business community has a role to play in supporting the wider society.

The presence of the three organisations at the Gala Night also provided an opportunity to raise awareness of their work among business leaders and encourage greater support for their causes.

On another development, the SBF Council has endorsed the establishment of the SBF Academy.

It said the academy will provide more structured and sustainable platform for entrepreneurship development, business training, and workforce reskilling and upskilling.

It will also help its members to embrace digitalisation, artificial intelligence and innovation, improve productivity, and seize emerging market opportunities.

“Our objective is clear – we must not only create opportunities; we must equip our businesses with the capabilities to seize them,” it said.
