Baby’s body found in Kuala Berang drain missing head and hand, police investigating
KUALA BERANG, Oct 17 — The body of a baby was found in a drain in a residential area in Kampung Padang Setengge, near here, yesterday evening.
Hulu Terengganu district police chief Supt Sharudin Abdul Wahab said police received a report from a member of the public about the discovery at about 6.52pm.
He said the D10 forensic unit and K9 unit of the Terengganu contingent police headquarters were called in to assist with investigations and gather evidence at the scene.
“The baby’s body was found by a woman who was washing clothes behind her house. When discovered, the baby’s body was without its head and missing one hand.”
“So far, police have been unable to determine the baby’s sex or nationality. The body has been sent to the Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital’s (HSNZ) Forensic Department for a post-mortem,” he said in a statement yesterday.
Sharudin said the case is being investigated under Section 318 of the Penal Code and members of the public with information about the incident are urged to contact the nearest police station. — Bernama
