Sulong the Elephant appears healthier in new Tasik Kenyir footage

By Harry Izzdin · 11 Oct, 14:45 MYT

KUCHING : Remember Sulong, the elephant who captured Malaysians’ hearts after he was spotted wandering along the East–West Highway with an injured leg?

There is now a welcome update from Tasik Kenyir.

In footage shared by Threads user @h4k1mii, Sulong appeared healthier and more comfortable in his surroundings, even flapping his ears when the visitor called out his name.

The moment quickly struck a chord with those who remembered the concern surrounding the male elephant when videos of him first went viral.

Sulong was relocated to Tasik Kenyir, Terengganu, in September, where the Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan) confirmed he was receiving veterinary treatment for his injured leg.

The visitor who shared the latest footage said Sulong was eating well, with several other elephants also nearby.

His appearance has since drawn warm reactions online, with many Malaysians relieved to see him looking better after his earlier ordeal.

There has been no official confirmation that Sulong has fully recovered, but his latest appearance offers an encouraging glimpse of how he is doing in his new surroundings.
