Real want McTominay
Real Madrid are said to be interested in Napoli midfielder Scott McTominay.
Real are now managed by Jose Mourinho, who coached McTominay when they were both at Manchester United.
If he were to make the move to Spain, United stand to benefit from a sell-on clause from his move to his current side.
The Manchester Evening News explains: "Manchester United could be in line for a transfer windfall as speculation continues over Scott McTominay's future at Napoli. The midfielder has been linked with a return to the Premier League, potentially handing his former club a financial boost.
"McTominay is believed to be locked in a contract stand-off with Napoli, raising the possibility of a January exit if the two parties cannot reach an agreement.
"Real Madrid are said to have made enquiries to establish the situation, while further interest could emerge from the Premier League.
"If McTominay leaves Napoli for another club in the near future, United could benefit financially, provided the move is not a return to Old Trafford. The club negotiated a sell-on clause as part of the midfielder's transfer to Italy in 2024.
"Under the terms of that agreement, United are entitled to 10% of any future transfer fee. That could deliver a significant payday, with the 29-year-old having enhanced his reputation through his performances for club and country in recent seasons."
Spurs hope to keep Williams-Barnett
Tottenham Hotspur are hoping to keep youngster Luca Williams-Barnett, according to the Evening Standard.
The 19-year-old forward, who can also play as a winger, is a target for clubs around Europe.
Spurs - who drew 1-1 with Manchester United on Saturday evening - are said to have opened contract talks with the player.
The Evening Standard reports: "Williams-Barnett is considered one of the brightest prospects to come out of Spurs’ academy in recent years and was the only youth player pictured in the club’s first-team squad photo at the start of the month.
"The England youth international starred for the Under-19s over the international break, scoring against Norway and the United States.
"Williams-Barnett, who \[Roberto\] De Zerbi believes can play as a No. 10 and a winger, is hot property right now and has drawn interest from clubs across Europe. Spurs, though, are determined to tie him down and have reportedly opened contract talks with the young attacker."
Chelsea transfer strategy continues
Chelsea have become known for signing top young talent and giving them long-term contracts.
It is within that framework that The Athletic understands the decision to give Cole Palmer a deal that runs for almost eight years, which was announced on Saturday.
Palmer has been linked with a move away over the last six months, but he has now committed his future to Stamford Bridge.
The website states: "Cole Palmer has strengthened his commitment to Chelsea by signing a new contract which keeps him at Stamford Bridge until the summer of 2034.
"The playmaker, 24, was already tied down for the next seven years but has extended his stay by a further 12 months on improved terms that reward Palmer’s importance to the club.
"It continues Chelsea’s recent drive to tie down their key existing talent - with captain Reece James, midfielder Moises Caicedo, forward Joao Pedro and winger Pedro Neto also prolonging their deals in 2026.
"They also provide further evidence that Clearlake \[Capital, Chelsea's owners\] want to reward and retain Chelsea’s best players, despite the sale of Enzo Fernandez to Manchester City last summer after unsuccessful contract talks."
Rangers face Fallenius battle
Rangers face a tough task in improving their squad, with no European football to offer after an early UEFA Conference League exit at the hands of FK Jablonec in August.
A player being eyed by the Ibrox club is Oskar Fallenius.
The 24-year-old Swede currently plays at Djugardens and had previously suggested he wished to leave, with Wolfsburg also said to be keen.
However, there is a new wrinkle as Fallenius has now suggested he might sign fresh terms to stay with his current team.
The Daily Record claims: "Reported Rangers transfer target Oskar Fallenius has now hinted that he could do a U-turn and pen a new contract at Djurgardens.
"The Light Blues were heavily linked with the winger during the summer transfer window, with Fallenius also said to be on the radar of the 2. Bundesliga club Wolfsburg.
"Last month, the 24-year-old - who returned to his native Sweden from Brondby in Denmark three years ago - stated that he intended to leave the club when his contract expires on December 31, meaning Derek McInnes' Gers could snap him up for nothing when the window re-opens on January 1.
"But Fallenius has revealed he is holding talks over a new deal with Djurgardens sporting director Maximilian Hahn and hasn't ruled out staying with the Stockholm club beyond the end of the year."
