Pakatan targets Tampin parliamentary seat comeback in next GE
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 11 — Pakatan Harapan (PH) is aiming to reclaim the Tampin parliamentary seat at the next general election, with its election machinery urged to strengthen its efforts and engage voters from now.
Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) deputy president Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun said all parties must work harder to restore public confidence and demonstrate PH’s capabilities through its administrative performance and service to the community, Kosmo! Online reported today.
Aminuddin, who is also Negeri Sembilan PH chairman, said winning back Tampin should be one of the coalition’s main priorities as it prepares for the general election, which is expected to be held in October or November next year.
“Make sure we win. We want to restore our dignity in Tampin. Everyone must work and show the people what we have accomplished.
“The people can see who is capable of working and who merely talks big but cannot fulfil their responsibilities,” he said in his speech at the DAP Negeri Sembilan convention in Seremban today.
Commenting on PH’s defeat in the previous Negeri Sembilan state election, Aminuddin said the experience should serve as a lesson, particularly in addressing racial sentiments which were alleged to have divided support for the coalition.
He said a campaign against DAP that played on Malay sentiment appeared to have affected voter support, including in Malay-majority constituencies where PH’s Malay candidates also lost.
