Selangor career carnival offers 3,568 jobs for vulnerable groups
SHAH ALAM, Oct 11 — The Selangor government has expanded job opportunities for vulnerable groups through the Selangor JobCare Istimewa Career Carnival 2026, which offers 3,568 vacancies.
State Human Resources and Poverty Eradication Committee chairman V. Papparaidu said the state government was aware of the challenges faced by these groups in entering the job market, particularly persons with disabilities (OKU), Orang Asli, military veterans and senior citizens.
He said the carnival, involving 40 employers from various sectors, provided more opportunities for jobseekers to find roles matching their qualifications, skills and experience.
“The 3,568 positions available include 1,603 vacancies for Orang Asli, veterans (1,333), OKU (472) and senior citizens (160).
“Of the total, 2,854 vacancies or 80 per cent are in Selangor, while the remainder involve placements in other states,” he said.
He said this in his speech at the carnival’s opening ceremony, officiated by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari at the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) Convention Centre here today.
Papparaidu said employment opportunities for the Orang Asli community would help boost household income and elevate their socio-economic status, including that of the younger generation.
“For veterans, their experience, discipline and skills gained throughout their service are valuable assets that can be tapped by both the public and private sectors.
“Persons with disabilities are capable of being productive employees and contributing to organisations, while senior citizens can continue to contribute to society and the economy,” he said.
He said the one-day carnival offered career opportunities with salaries ranging between RM5,000 and RM12,999, including positions in management, technical and engineering fields.
“Therefore, human capital development remains a continuous priority, and we must ensure that Selangor residents are not only ready for the job market but also able to increase their income and build sustainable careers,” he said. — Bernama
