tHe Bright Side Project promotes Sarawak’s unity, wellness and charity
KUCHING : tHe Bright Side Project at tHe Spring Shopping Mall reflects Sarawak’s inclusive spirit by bringing diverse communities together through sports, wellness, entertainment and charitable activities.
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian said the initiative went beyond providing recreational activities by creating opportunities for local businesses and communities to benefit socially and economically.
“In Sarawak, as we always say, we eat together. But here, you find that all the different stalls make money together.
“This represents the best of Sarawak. We cater to different communities, but everyone comes together,” he said when officiating the launch of tHe Bright Side Project at tHe Arena, tHe Spring Shopping Mall today.
Dr Sim welcomed the inclusion of healthy ageing activities, breast cancer awareness, pickleball, arts and photography, saying such initiatives were important to Sarawak’s nation-building efforts.
He noted that the diverse attractions allowed families, children and senior citizens to participate in activities suited to their interests while bringing different communities together in one venue.

Meanwhile, the 17-day campaign, themed ‘Find Your Bright Side’, runs from October 9 to 25, featuring five themed zones offering sports, food, music, fashion and lifestyle activities.
Its centrepiece, tHe Arena, features an indoor pickleball court hosting clinics, open play and special programmes, while tHe Heat offers outdoor picnic nights, local food and live entertainment.
Other attractions include lifestyle booths at tHe Cabana, activities at tHe Playground and a cat-focused pet fair at tHe Furry.
The campaign also supports Breast Cancer Awareness Month through collaborations with the Society for Cancer Advocacy and Awareness Kuching (SCAN Kuching) and Sarawak Breast Cancer Support Group (SBCSG).
Pink Day on October 10 will feature pickleball activities involving breast cancer survivors, while proceeds from Pink It Up! pin sales and public donations will benefit both organisations.
During the launch, tHe Spring’s Executive Director, Datin Christine Ling presented Dr Sim with a ceremonial pickleball paddle before he participated in a friendly game with FRIDAY Pickleball and Skechers Malaysia ambassador Toi Sui Ee.
The campaign is also being held at tHe Spring Bintulu until November 1.
