KUALA LUMPUR: Three chairs of the MyMahir Future Skills Talent Council have informed Talent Corporation Malaysia Berhad (TalentCorp) of their intention to resign.
MyMahir is a TalentCorp initiative to prepare Malaysia’s workforce for future industry needs by identifying emerging skills requirements and aligning training and upskilling efforts with industry demands.
Its Future Skills Talent Council brings together industry experts, government agencies and workforce stakeholders to identify emerging skills needs, address skills gaps and guide workforce development. The council reports directly to TalentCorp.
Norhamijah Mohd Hanafiah, chair of the council’s healthcare sector, confirmed that she had submitted her resignation letter.
“But I have not received any feedback from the management,” she said.
“I feel that things are moving too slowly. There are programmes we want to do but have yet to receive approval.
“There have been many changes to the management, and perhaps that is why everything is up in the air.”
Another resigning chair, who requested anonymity told Twentytwo13 : “I’m not happy with certain things within TalentCorp. As such, I thought it best for me to resign. I wanted to lend my expertise to MyMahir but it feels as if I’m not contributing enough.”
The resignations follow a previous Twentytwo13 report that two TalentCorp senior vice-presidents had their employment terminated and two board members were removed.
Twentytwo13 contacted TalentCorp Group Chief Executive Officer Biruntha Mooruthi and chairperson Elizabeth Wong for comment on the resignations and leadership changes within TalentCorp and MyMahir, but had not received a response at the time of publication.
TalentCorp’s communications and public relations department was also contacted, and a response was pending at the time of writing.
The two senior executives’ terminations and the removal of the two board members followed a disciplinary inquiry, amid proposed changes to the senior management team under Biruntha.
Biruntha was appointed on April 15, 2026, succeeding Edward Ling, who stepped down less than five months after taking up the role on Nov 4, 2025.
Her appointment followed a change in the ministry’s leadership, with Datuk Seri R. Ramanan replacing Steven Sim as minister on Dec 17, 2025.
Ramanan told Twentytwo13 on Oct 13 that an investigation was underway and it was best for TalentCorp to handle the matter. He declined to comment further.
The resignations raise questions about TalentCorp’s future direction and the council’s engagement with industry stakeholders.
