KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 28 community and ethnic leaders (KMKK) from Mukah are gaining first-hand insight into the functions and role of the Parliament of Malaysia through an educational visit organised as part of a learning programme.
The delegation was hosted by Deputy Health Minister Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib during its official visit to Parliament yesterday (Oct 12).
In a Facebook post, Hanifah said the visit was part of the Educational Visit Programme for the KMKKs in the Mukah constituency, involving KMKK representatives from Mukah Division and officers from the Mukah and Dalat District Offices, as well as the Mukah Service Centre.
She said the visit on the first day of the programme aimed to provide participants with direct exposure to Parliament’s functions and its role in the country’s development process.
During the meeting, Hanifah also briefed the delegation on the roles of the Dewan Rakyat and Dewan Negara, as well as the overall functions of Parliament, to enhance their understanding of the country’s legislative institution.
She expressed hope that the visit would add value to the participants’ knowledge and experience, which they could share with their respective communities upon returning to Mukah.
The programme is intended to broaden the community leaders’ understanding of national institutions and help them relay the knowledge gained to residents in their respective areas.
