ANMS roadshow promotes healthier lifestyles at Kuching Sentral
KUCHING : The ‘Agenda Nasional Malaysia Sihat’ (ANMS) roadshow in Kuching is promoting healthier lifestyles through physical activities, nutritional awareness and free health screenings for the local community.
Held at Kuching Sentral on Oct 17 and 18 in conjunction with the Wellness Month, the two-day programme features 12 exhibition booths involving the Kuching Divisional Health Office and strategic partners.
The programme is part of efforts to encourage the public to adopt healthier daily habits with emphasis on physical activities and healthy eating.
Visitors can also benefit from free health screenings, including checks for cholesterol, blood pressure and blood glucose levels.
Free influenza vaccinations and human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination services are also among the health initiatives offered during the programme.
In addition, visitors can access dental services through a mobile dental bus, while the ‘Wellness on Wheels’ service provides free fitness assessments to help participants understand their stamina levels.
Activities on Oct 17 included an aerobics competition, an ANMS pocket talk and a Kahoot quiz to raise awareness of healthy living.
The programme continues with a group aerobics competition and colouring contests for children aged seven to nine and 10 to 12, as well as a category for senior participants.
The closing ceremony is scheduled to be officiated by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian on Oct 18.
The programme primarily targets the surrounding community, with an estimated 700 to 1,000 visitors expected over the two days.
Members of the public are encouraged to take advantage of the activities and free services available, as the roadshow provides an opportunity for the community to learn more about health prevention and make healthier lifestyle choices.
Members of the public visit the booths at the roadshow.
