Rembau police chief Ngiam Ooi Ming said the incident which occurred around 7.30pm yesterday involved a foreign male motorcyclist. PETALING JAYA: A motorcyclist died after reportedly hitting a cow that was crossing the road at Jalan Chengkau-Pilin-Lubok Cina, near Kampung Panchang in Negeri Sembilan.
Rembau police chief Ngiam Ooi Ming said the incident, which occurred around 7.30pm yesterday, involved a foreign male motorcyclist.
"Preliminary investigations found that the victim was travelling alone from Lubok Cina towards Pekan Rembau.
"He is believed to have hit a cow that was crossing the road. The incident happened while it was raining," Berita Harian reported him saying in a statement.
He said the impact threw the victim onto the road, causing him injuries. He died at the scene.
"The victim’s death was confirmed by medical personnel from Rembau Hospital who went to the scene. His body was then taken to the hospital for a post-mortem examination.
"The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving. Investigations are ongoing," he said.
Ngiam urged anyone with information about the incident to contact the Rembau traffic enforcement and investigation department.
"The police advise all road users to be cautious, especially while driving or riding at night and in rainy conditions.
"Road users should also be alert to the possibility of livestock wandering around or crossing roads, particularly in rural areas, to avoid life-threatening accidents," he said.
