Muaythai Premier Cup 2026: The calm before the clash

By Edwinnie Einstein Unji · 15 Oct, 18:11 MYT

BINTULU: The trophies are ready, the fighters are gathering and the ring is waiting and soon, all that standing around will give way to punches, kicks and three days of muaythai action at Naim Street Mall Paragon.

Participants of different ages, sizes and genders have been making their preparations ahead of the 10th Muaythai Premier Sarawak Cup 2026, with the first bouts scheduled to begin at 3:00 pm on Friday (Oct. 16).

Some arrived looking ready to take on the world, while others were still finding their footing amid the preparations.

Whatever their experience, they will all have the same task when they step into the ring, which is to prove themselves when it counts.

Today’s weigh-ins and medical checks formed part of the preparations, with Sarawak Muaythai Association’s (PMNS) President, Jumaat Ibrahim confirming that the process went smoothly and according to schedule.

“The medical checks and weigh-ins conducted today went smoothly,” he told Sarawak Tribune.

The session ran from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, with further checks scheduled for Friday morning.

The tournament brings together nearly 300 fighters from 29 clubs, representing six Malaysian states and eight countries, promising a diverse mix of fighting styles, experience and ambitions under one roof.
