9 Oct, 18:00 MYT

The increased Rukun Tetangga grants will allow for more unity, community and national integration activities to be carried out at the community level, said Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. (Bernama pic) PETALING JAYA: The government will raise the annual grants for Rukun Tetangga committees from RM6,000 to RM10,000 next year.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said this will benefit all registered and active Rukun Tetangga committees across the country.

"This is to allow for more unity, community and national integration activities to be carried out at the community level, involving people of various ethnicities and religions," he said when tabling the 2027 budget.

Anwar also said the government will organise a “unity league” for various traditional games in hopes of fostering unity among Malaysians.

He said Putrajaya aimed to attract 200,000 participants at the community level to allow Malaysians of various ethnicities to meet, play and foster ties with one another.
