Samsung Health: You can now start Sleep Coaching with just three days of data
Samsung has rolled out an update to the Samsung Health app that significantly lowers the barrier to entry for its Sleep Coaching feature.
You can now kick off personalised coaching using just three days of sleep data recorded over the past two weeks on your Galaxy Watch.
This is shorter from the previous requirement of seven days within a month.
Quicker setup and weekly guidance for Sleep Coaching
Under the previous system, you had to wait until the system had accumulated a full week of sleep tracking within a single month before coaching could be activated.
Now, the revised requirement of three days within a fortnight makes it much quicker to get started.
To set up Sleep Coaching, you need to complete a short survey detailing your sleep regularity, nighttime interruptions, caffeine and alcohol intake along with subjective sleep satisfaction.
Samsung Health combines these survey responses with the three days of recorded wearable data to assign a Sleep Animal symbol and generate a customised four- to eight-week programme.
The coaching programme adapts dynamically from week to week based on individual habits and sleep patterns.
You will receive daily habit checklists and sleep tips designed to promote better bedtime habits. That includes cutting off screen time before bed, avoiding late caffeine and taking morning outdoor walks.
The update also introduces a pentagon-shaped Sleep Balance graph.
This visual summary brings together five key metrics: actual sleep time, sleep regularity, awake time during the night, sleep satisfaction and the Energy Score.
Daily morning insight messages deliver quick recaps of the previous night’s rest alongside practical recommendations.
Running Coach gains 12 levels and Strava Routes integration
On the fitness front, Samsung Health has upgraded its Running Coach by expanding from 10 to 12 training tiers.
The two higher tiers cater to intermediate and advanced runners looking to set new benchmarks, with workouts still determined by either a 12-minute running test or existing exercise history.
You can also share your achievements using revamped social media templates featuring route maps, milestones and personal bests.
In addition, Samsung has integrated Strava Routes directly into the app, allowing you to import your favourite routes straight into Samsung Health for runs, trail runs and cycling workouts.
When will you get this update?
The app update will arrive on Galaxy Store or Google Play Store starting this October. That means you will not have to wait for a major One UI firmware update to access them.
Once updated on a compatible Galaxy smartphone and wearable, you will gain immediate access to the faster Sleep Coaching setup alongside the expanded running tiers and native Strava route synchronisation.
