Two men injured as lorry overturns on Sibu-Bintulu road

SIBU : Two men were injured after the lorry they were travelling in skidded and overturned at KM114 of Jalan Sibu-Bintulu early this morning.

The victims were identified as John Panggau Majang and Kenneth Chua Choon Siang.

The Selangau Fire and Rescue Station received an emergency call on the accident at 4:54 am and dispatched firefighters to the scene.

Upon arrival, firefighters found an Isuzu lorry which had skidded and overturned by the roadside.

Kenneth was believed to have been thrown out of the vehicle in the accident and sustained injuries to his head and body.

John, meanwhile, was found trapped inside the lorry and was bleeding from a wound on his left leg.

Firefighters, wearing full personal protective equipment, carried out a rescue operation to extricate John from the vehicle.

Both victims, who remained conscious, were fitted with cervical collars and placed on stretchers before being carried to safety.
