SEREMBAN, Oct 16 — A Road Transport Department (JPJ) officer was killed and another seriously injured in a crash involving a JPJ vehicle and two lorries on the North-South Expressway southbound near the Senawang exit last night, Sinar Harian reported.

The accident occurred at about 10.50pm when the officers were believed to be inspecting a lorry on the emergency lane, the Malay daily reported.

A second lorry travelling behind them is believed to have lost control before crashing into the JPJ sport utility vehicle (SUV) and the lorry being inspected.

No official statement had been issued by the authorities at the time of reporting.

However, a senior Negeri Sembilan JPJ officer confirmed that one of the department’s personnel had died in the crash.
