KUALA LUMPUR : Wife of Sarawak Head of State Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi has been invited to officiate the launch of We Lead 2026, a women’s empowerment programme, in Kuching this November.
The invitation was presented by Open University Malaysia (OUM) president and vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Ahmad Ezanee Awang during a courtesy call on Sarawak Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and Fauziah at their official residence here today (Oct 16).
We Lead 2026, themed Women’s Empowerment: Leadership, Empathy, Awareness and Development, focuses on Psychological First Aid (PFA) training, particularly in emotional wellbeing, empathetic leadership and the development of support networks within communities.
Wan Junaidi said higher education institutions such as Open University Malaysia (OUM) play an important role in expanding access to flexible and inclusive education, particularly for working adults, civil servants and those seeking to upgrade their academic qualifications and professional skills while balancing their career commitments.
He stressed that lifelong learning was essential to nurturing a knowledgeable, skilled and competitive workforce capable of meeting the evolving needs of society and the nation.
Wan Junaidi and Fauziah welcomed the organisation of We Lead 2026, describing it as a meaningful initiative to empower women, particularly in leadership, emotional wellbeing and community development.
He also expressed hope that the programme in Kuching would achieve its objective of developing more resilient and confident women who could contribute positively to the wellbeing of their families, communities and Sarawak’s development.
They thanked Ahmad Ezanee and his delegation for the courtesy call, as well as OUM’s continued efforts to expand access to quality education among various segments of society.
During the meeting, Ahmad Ezanee also shared details of the 31st OUM Convocation Ceremony, which is scheduled to be held tomorrow (Oct 17) at the Kuala Lumpur World Trade Centre.
