“Untrue Chinese are heartless, never condemn BYD Seal driver in accident that kills 5 y.o. Malay girl”

By FocusM · 16 Oct, 09:04 MYT

AT least two Chinese influencers have come forward to dispel misperception that their brethren are muted/tightlipped over the fatal five-car Jalan Kuching accident on the Oct 10 weekend which ended in pre-schooler Asiah Ahmad Syahir losing her life while a motorcyclist sustained head injury.

This follows heavy criticism especially from the rightist fraternity that the Chinese “are only interested in defending the Oriental Kopitiam no-BM-in-menu saga to defend their mother tongue” but show no sympathy when a Malay life was lost.

Vlogger Ceddy Ang (@ceddyornot) who has large Malay following cleared the air by explaining that the Malays are unaware given much of the condemnation are voiced in Mandarin.

I came across someone asking, “Why didn’t the Chinese speak out about the BYD accident?”

Eh they did! It’s just because you don’t understand Chinese and that they appeared in Chinese-language portals/Facebook pages.

There’re so many Chinese bashing that bas*ard while hoping that he’s severely punished. Wrong is still wrong, we won’t side with him.

Example of criticism: 駕車駕到那麽快趕去投胎啊?(literally, “Why are you driving so fast? Are you rushing to reincarnate?”)

‘He deserves the heaviest of punishment’

The timing of the poster’s clarification coincided with the BYD Seal driver identified as 24-year-old Raeven Goh Wey Haur getting charged at the Kuala Lumpur Magistrate’s Court with three traffic offences.

Apparently, magistrate Aliaa Anwar fixed bail at RM36,000 with one surety for all three charges of which the bank sales manager’s father – a 55-year-old businessman who has been running his business for more than two decades – would stand as his surety. The court eventually fixed Nov 19 for mention.

At least a consolation for the rightist fraternity is that most media, including national news agency Bernama, featured the suspect ‘unmasked’ (not blurring his face) and hand cuffed as he pleaded not guilty to causing the death of Asiah by (i) reckless driving; (ii) driving in a manner that endangered other motorists; as well as (iii) failing to stop and report an accident.

While displaying examples of disgust at the BYD Seal driver, the tri-lingual Ang enlightened his Malay fans that “if you always interact and engage with Malay content, then what you see on Threads (or other social media platforms) is mostly in the Malay language”.

“Like me, my feed is 98% Malay content, too,” he justified. “This is the algorithm’s work. Suddenly it shows you post Chinese content which is also strange, right? So, let’s just pray together for bad things to happen to people who drive fast as if they’re impatient to die.”

Elsewhere, Threader Paul N (@peann999) – while referring to a China Press report – also lashed out at the fact that “the young man so casually PLEASDED NOT GUILTY! ” in court.

“As a Chinese, I’m also angry! ” berated the poster.

Don’t blame the race. This is not about race, it’s about the ego, barbaric and disrespectful attitude of that person!

Shameless face, raising his face as if nothing has happened. The life of a five-year-old child is treated like dust. Can money and big cables buy someone’s life?!

Must be dumped in the lock-up! The rakyat are fed up with this injustice! Don’t let this issue be hushed up! Spread it until the minister is aware!

To re-cap, dashcam footage shows that the suspect’s speeding black BYD Seal electric vehicle (EV) had struck the rear of a red Perodua Bezza amid a slow-moving traffic at 3.44pm on Oct 10 with the impact resulted in five-year-old Asiah sustaining severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital.

The collision also involved a motorcycle before the Bezza which allegedly spun into the right lane struck three other cars: a Nissan Almera, a Toyota Alphard and a Perodua MyVi.

The victim’s 30-year-old father suffered an injury to his right hand while a 33-year-old motorcyclist sustained a head injury with the drivers of the other three vehicles being unharmed. – Oct 16, 2026
