Microsoft's 10th-generation family of Xbox consoles will be just that: a family. The company plans to introduce not just a home console, but also a way to play games on the go, according to CEO Asha Sharma.
Sharma reportedly told Xbox staff this week that the brand will build multiple devices for its 10th generation of hardware, rather than a single product.
"We are moving to a family of devices for Gen-10. There is not one device that fits all," Sharma said in her address Tuesday, a transcript of which was shared with and verified by Windows Central. "We will certainly have a great console first, but we also know that many players will be on the go."
In March, Microsoft publicly confirmed that its next-generation Xbox, codenamed Project Helix, will play both Xbox and PC games. The company is working with AMD on a custom SoC.
Microsoft has not yet said whether any of its upcoming hardware will feature disc drives, come in more than one performance tier, or use a desktop-style OS. at-home Helix console will include a disc drive, ship in more than one performance tier, like Xbox Series X and S, or run PC games through Windows.
