M’sian Car Saleswoman Tops Up RM2K For Customer’s Trade-In To Secure Deal, Customer Buys From Friend Instead | WeirdKaya
Working in customer-facing roles is rarely smooth sailing, but for one Malaysian car sales advisor (SA), putting too much trust in a customer ended up costing her RM2,000 of her own money.
Taking to social media to share her painful ordeal, the female sales advisor recounted how a recent car trade-in deal turned into an expensive lesson about trust in business transactions.

Wanted RM22,000 for trade-in car
According to the mStar , the customer originally approached her wanting to trade in a 2018 Perodua Myvi. The customer insisted on getting RM22,000 for the used vehicle.
However, after checking with used car valuation offers, the highest quote obtained for the Myvi was only RM20,000 .
Despite the market evaluation, the customer remained firm on the RM22,000 figure .
Advanced RM2,000 on one condition
Eager to seal the deal and accommodate the customer, the sales advisor came up with a compromise.
She offered to top up the remaining RM2,000 out of her own funds, provided that the customer committed to purchasing the new car directly through her .
The customer agreed to the condition, and the transaction proceeded .

Canceled loan after receiving the money
The ordeal took a turn once all the paperwork for the trade-in was completed and the additional RM2,000 had been transferred directly into the customer’s account .
Shortly after receiving the funds, the customer abruptly canceled the new car loan application with the sales advisor.
When confronted, the customer revealed that they decided to cancel the loan to buy the car from a friend instead .
How could the customer do this to me? I originally stated that they had to promise to buy the car through me before I gave the RM2,000,” she wrote. “Out of nowhere, they canceled the deal just to buy the car from their friend instead. Now I don’t even know what to feel, I feel betrayed.”
“A hard lesson learned”
Reflecting on the incident, the sales advisor admitted that her mistake was trusting the customer blindly based on her past smooth dealings.
I didn’t think twice because I trusted them. Usually, my previous customers were all fine, but then this happened. It’s a new lesson in life,” she shared.
She ended her post by reminding others in the sales industry never to easily trust anyone when money is involved .
