Anwar approves RM30m to resurface 600 roads in Perak, says Nga Kor Ming
IPOH, Oct 18 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has approved a special allocation of RM30 million to resurface 600 roads in residential areas across Perak, said Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming.
He said the allocation, through the Sentuhan Kasih Istimewa YAB PMX initiative, uses the savings of the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) from recent years and is now being channelled back to improve public facilities and comfort, according to Bernama.
“In conjunction with the Perak DAP Convention, I announced on behalf of the Prime Minister a special allocation of RM30 million for road resurfacing works in residential areas across the state.
“At least 600 roads can be resurfaced through this allocation. The resurfacing works will begin next month and are expected to be fully completed before Hari Raya next year,” he said.
He said this while speaking at the 24th Perak DAP Annual Convention, officiated by DAP Secretary-General Anthony Loke here today.
The convention was attended by over 1,000 delegates.
Nga, who is also Perak DAP chairman, said the Madani Government’s commitment to safeguarding the people’s well-being is also demonstrated through various initiatives under Budget 2027 that benefit the B40 and M40 groups.
He said among these initiatives are an individual income tax exemption of RM12,000 for certain taxable incomes, as well as Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) assistance of RM200 for 22 million recipients.
Meanwhile, Nga stressed that DAP will not compromise on issues of corruption and misappropriation despite facing various challenges.
He urged all parties to unite in rejecting corrupt practices, which he said could affect the future of the younger generation.
Nga also praised the courage of a Universiti Malaya (UM) student who voiced concerns about corruption in the country.
He, who is also a UM alumnus, said leaders must set a good example for the younger generation through their stance and actions. — Bernama
