KUCHING: Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr. Sim Kui Hian hosted a dinner for 100 media practitioners from various media organisations at Carvery restaurant here on Thursday (Oct 8) night to enhance ties between the state government and the media.
Dr. Sim, accompanied by his wife Datin Amar Enn Ong Siok Ean, arrived at about 7pm and was warmly welcomed by the media representatives.
The dinner provided an opportunity for Dr. Sim to engage with media practitioners and foster closer relationships with those from various news organisations.
Throughout the evening, Dr. Sim mingled with the guests, making his way from table to table to greet and interact with the media representatives.

The guests also took the opportunity to take photographs with Dr. Sim. Representatives from various media organisations attended the gathering, including the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS), Department of Information Malaysia (JAPEN), TVS, Suara Sarawak, Sarawak Tribune, Utusan Borneo, The Borneo Post and Dayak Daily.
Other organisations represented were International Times, Sin Chew, See Hua, Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM), United Daily, Utusan Sarawak, Bernama, Astro Awani, TV3 and Jiwa Bakti.
Also present were Maradong assemblyman Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing, Piasau assemblyman Datuk Sebastian Ting, Tanjung Datu assemblyman Johnny Phang, Batu Kitang assemblyman Datuk Lo Khere Chiang and Padawan Municipal Council chairman Tan Kai.
