PUSA : A total of 46 development projects worth RM205 million are being implemented in the Beting Maro constituency under the Betong Division Development Agency (BDDA), spanning infrastructure, social and women’s affairs, agro-food, entrepreneurship, utilities and tourism.
Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said development planning in Pusa must address the balance between the immediate and long-term needs of residents, with emphasis on improving public amenities, expanding economic opportunities and creating a more conducive living environment.
He stressed that comprehensive and strategic planning was crucial to ensuring the district’s development progressed in an orderly, sustainable and inclusive manner.
Abang Johari also underscored the importance of close collaboration among the government, community leaders, the private sector and residents to ensure development initiatives were effectively implemented and delivered tangible benefits to the people.
“Development will be more effective when the community’s actual needs are identified and residents actively participate in ensuring the success of every initiative,” he said in his speech at the launch of the third edition of Regatta Tandang Sari, Pusa 2026, here yesterday.
His speech was delivered by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas on his behalf.
Abang Johari stressed that development must go beyond physical improvements to deliver meaningful socio-economic benefits, particularly by raising household incomes, creating opportunities for young people and enhancing family well-being.
“We want development to not only transform the physical landscape of an area but also increase incomes, create opportunities for young people and strengthen family well-being.
“That is the development goal we must work towards together,” he said.
