BINTANGOR : Health Clinic is slated for redevelopment from a Type 4 to a Type 3 health clinic under the 14th Malaysia Plan (RMK-14), with a new dental clinic featuring five dental chairs.
Deputy Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government Datuk Michael Tiang said the Sarawak State Health Department had planned the redevelopment to enhance healthcare facilities in the area.
He was responding to Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing (GPS-Meradong) during question and answer session on Thursday (Oct 15).
In response to a supplementary question on dental services, Tiang said Bintangor Dental Clinic not only provided outpatient treatment but also extended dental care to communities in Bintangor and surrounding areas through various outreach programmes.
“These included regular dental visits to primary and secondary schools, as well as the School Dental Clinic Community Integration Programme (PPKPS) at SJKC Kai Chung in Bintangor,” he said.
He said dental outreach services were also provided to Community-Based Rehabilitation Centres (PDK) in Bintangor and Julau, and five health clinics in surrounding areas.
Under the Kampung Angkat programme, dental visits were conducted twice a year at Rumah Kinchu, while an annual oral health programme was held at Institut Pendidikan Guru (IPG) Kampus Rajang.
Tiang said these initiatives complemented services at Bintangor Dental Clinic by bringing preventive and basic dental care closer to the community, particularly schoolchildren and other target groups.
On patient numbers, he said Bintangor Dental Clinic received an average of 25 patients daily in 2025.
The clinic provided dental examinations, consultations and treatments, including scaling, fillings, tooth extractions, dentures and root canal treatment.
