Petra Jaya Hospital completion revised to Dec 14

By Alezxandria Kapple · 20 Oct, 21:00 MYT

THE completion date for Petra Jaya Hospital has been revised to Dec 14 following a seventh extension of time, with construction reaching 91.02 per cent as of Sept 25.

Deputy Premier and Public Health, Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian said contractors were finalising internal finishing works in preparation for the installation of medical equipment.

“The revised date of completion after the seventh extension of time is Dec 14, 2026,” he said in his ministerial winding-up speech during the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting here today (Oct 20).

On other healthcare developments, Dr Sim said the new Lawas Hospital began operating on Sept 7, with its clinical block completed as of Sept 30.

The new Tabuan Jaya Health Clinic also began operating on July 19, while Lawas Health Clinic was in its final phase and expected to become operational in the last quarter of this year.

Meanwhile, two new clinics, Nanga Atoi Health Clinic in Saratok and Nanga Ngungun Health Clinic in Kanowit, have been approved under the Rintis Project initiative at a combined estimated cost of RM12.8 million.

“Nanga Ngungun Health Clinic is expected to be handed over before the end of 2026,” he said.
